Preparing Today’s Youth
for a Brighter Future

Prevention education, crisis intervention, and community awareness that empower young people, strengthen families and support safer communities.

One Mission. Multiple Programs. Lasting Impact.

Long Island P.R.E.P. and PREP National provide a comprehensive system of prevention education, early intervention, and professional development programs designed to empower individuals, strengthen families, and build healthier, safer communities.

Through our innovative programs, digital resources, and engaging educational experiences, we address today's most pressing challenges, including substance abuse prevention, mental wellness, digital literacy and online safety, violence and gang prevention, sex trafficking awareness, and healthy decision-making.

Together, our organizations serve schools, youth organizations, veterans, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, and other community settings. Long Island P.R.E.P. serves New York, while PREP National extends our mission to communities across the country.

THREE PILLARS OF ACTION

The Foundation of Our System of Programs

RICAPP is our comprehensive, student-centered early identification and intervention system designed to recognize challenges before they escalate. Through individualized action plans, measurable goals, progress monitoring, and ongoing communication among educators, families, and support teams, RICAPP provides a coordinated approach to helping students overcome obstacles and achieve lasting success.

Prevention Education That Builds Lifelong Skills

PREP for Life is our comprehensive K–12 prevention education curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to make healthy decisions. Through engaging lessons and activities, students explore substance abuse prevention, mental wellness, peer pressure, resilience, positive relationships, and personal responsibility.

Empowering Adults Through Education and Professional Development

PREP Academy provides accessible, engaging professional development and community education for educators, administrators, parents, and other professionals. Through self-paced online courses, live workshops, and expert-led presentations, participants gain practical knowledge and strategies to support mental wellness, substance abuse prevention, early intervention, and healthy communities.

PREP Academy is an approved New York State CTLE sponsor, offering eligible professional learning opportunities for educators.

The old way is not working, a new, all-encompassing approach to protect our children from the dangers of substance abuse and addiction is not only long overdue but necessary.

52% of teens find it easy to access nicotine, alcohol and other drugs.

49% of teens say they personally know someone with addiction.

33% of teens get information about drugs from unreliable sources.

Three Pillars of Action

Our three-pronged approach includes various prevention modules designed to complement one another and link our communities with children in school and their parents at home, with a renewed focus on mental health, and the cornerstone ideologies of PREP To truly tackle the mental health crisis requires new and innovative ways of thinking, one that gets to the core issue associated with substance abuse in children and young adults.  Our deeper systems approach is not just scratching the surface but one that aims to make students’ mental health and wellness an absolute priority all while offering an effective partnership model for schools.

What People are Saying

  • "To tackle the mental health crisis our students face requires new and innovative ways of thinking. PREP has created a system that addresses the core issue of substance abuse in children and young adults. They aren’t just scratching the surface. It is a deeper systems approach that aims to make students’ mental health and wellness an absolute priority all while offering an effective partnership model for schools.”

  • “PREP has been an amazing resource in both a classroom setting and administrative setting. I have seen some incredible results when using it as an intervention resource with students that have struggled with substance issues and wanted to be involved in cessation groups to give the tools to make better choices. In a classroom setting, I was able to implement PREP as a preventative measure by educating and building self-awareness, setting goals, and building confidence in students.”
